Representative Doug Miller Elected Secretary of Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus

March 17, 2011

State Representative Doug Miller, representing much of the Texas Hill Country including Comal, Bandera, Kendall and Gillespie counties was elected Secretaryof the Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus.

Currently, 95 Senators and Representatives of the Texas Legislature are members of the Tourism Caucus, making it one of the largest non-partisan caucuses in Texas.  "While representing high tourism areas such as Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, Boerne and Bandera, one must be ever mindful of tourism and its economic impact across the state, as well as at home in the hill country," said Miller.

The Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus was created to promote all aspects of the travel and tourism industry by providing a forum for legislators and leaders from the travel and tourism industry to provide input as to the current and future direction and growth of the industry.  The Caucus seeks to create sound legislative policies to support the growth of tourism employment, provide incentives for the development of the industry, oppose any taxes that would negate growth in the industry, and sustain and work to increase funding used to encourage travel to and with Texas.

Miller also serves on the House Appropriations Committee, Natural Resources, Environmental Flows Advisory Group, Rural Caucus and the Sportmen's Caucus.
